Tudor Place Home School History Days
Tudor Place 1644 31st Street NW, Washington DC 20007
Travel back in time to early Washington, DC!Home-School History Days are similar to programs offered for school or Scout groups, but tailored to suit home-school families and groups with children aged 5 to 14.
To ensure the most educational, age-appropriate presentations, each program is offered in several age groupings (typically corresponding to pre-K-to-2nd grade, 3rd-to-5th grade, and 6th-8th). Students will be assigned and expected to participate accordingly.

In each of these educational programs, students will take an interactive tour of the museum, participate in a hands-on workshop, and create a unique, historical souvenir of their visit.
For parents ...
Along with the visit, parents will receive tour-related resource packets with activities that introduce and reinforce the lesson, providing additional opportunities for parents and students to learn together.
Bring a picnic!
Families are welcome to bring a brown-bag lunch and picnic in the Museum gardens after the program (weather permitting).
Cost per Program:
$6 per child (ages 5-14)
$3 per adult.
Advance payment required.

While touring the National Historic Landmark and Georgetown neighborhood, students travel back 150 years to the Civil War to learn about life in the nation’s capital during this critical test of American democracy. After the tour, students create their own Civil War themed newspaper.

Inauguration Weekend at Tudor Place: Revolutionary War to Establishing our Nation’s Capital
Learn about the founding of our nation at Tudor Place! During an interactive tour of the historic mansion, students explore the Revolutionary War, the first presidency, and the shaping of the Federal city. Following the tour, students use reproductions of primary sources from the late 1700s and early 1800s to create their own museum exhibitions.

Discover Our Nation's Presidents
Celebrate George Washington’s birthday at Tudor Place. During an interactive house tour, students discover the rich history of our nation’s early presidents, including artifacts that once belonged to George Washington. After the tour students, experience history first hand by dressing in period clothing and making a special period craft to take home.

Greek and Roman History at Tudor Place
Students become art detectives, as they examine works of art during a tour of the historic mansion. The tour provides an understanding of the contributions of ancient Greek and Roman art to early America. After the tour, each student creates a gold leaf frame to take home.
