Civil War Teacher’s Workshop: Using Primary Sources to Tell Your History

History professor and author Dr. Heather Andrea Williams guides teachers through the strategies of using objects and original documents to teach students about the Civil War. After the workshop, Dr. Williams signs copies of her book Help Me Find My People: The African American Search for Families Lost in Slavery. This workshop is being offered in conjunction with the museum’s upcoming exhibition How the Civil War Changed Washington which opens February 2, 2015.

Teachers receive professional development credit for their participation.  Space is limited.

Advance tickets costing $12 (plus $1.65 handling fee per ticket) may be purchased ONLINE up to three hours before any performance. After that time, tickets will be available at the door beginning approximately one hour before curtain at a cost of $12. 

Please note that all seating for "Oliver!" at Bryant Alternative School (2709 Popkins Lane, Alexandria, VA) is reserved. Seats will be assigned in the order in which they are received. Your tickets will be held at the "will call" table.

PARKING can be found in front of as well as on the side and behind the school.
  
You will receive two email confirmations; one confirming your ticket order and a second confirming your payment. Payment MUST be made at the time of your order. Orders not paid will be disregarded.Please print out your credit card services receipt (the second one you receive) and bring it with you to the performance. Thank you!

On the fourth Saturday each month (with the exception of May, October, and December) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. build a toy boat. Sessions starting on the half hour, $2 donation requested.

Step back 250 years in the colonial era of Charles Carroll, Barrister and his family and join Mount Clare Museum House for a traditional holiday celebration at their 1760 Georgian estate. Experience Mount Clare decorated in 18th century colonial-style yuletide splendor with holiday greens, accented with fruits, nuts, feathers, and pine cones. Enhance your experience and take the B&O Mile One Express train ride to visit the mansion.
