Epiphany Concerts - Schubert Singers Concert Choir

Schubert Singers, a concert choir for children, will present Epiphany concerts at 7:00 Friday, January 4, at Christ Church (600 Farmington Road West, Accokeek, MD 20607), at 4:00 p.m. 
Saturday, January 5, at Grace Lutheran Church (1200 Charles St., La Plata, 20646), and at 4:00 p.m. 
Sunday, January 6, at All Saints Lutheran Church (16510 Mount Oak Road, Bowie, MD 20716). 

The program, Christmas and Epiphany All 'Round the World, will include seasonal folk songs from France, Germany, Spain, Canada, England, and an original setting of "Upon a Midnight Clear" by Michael Britt, a Maryland composer. The concerts are free, though donations for the support of the choir are welcome. Schubert Singers is an offering of Friendship Landing Center for the Arts, a non-profit initiative (founded by Alicia Cordelle) for the children of Southern Maryland to have access to the fine arts. Children's choir auditions

Auditions for new members will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Christ Church, 112 East Charles Street, La Plata, MD 20646. Parents of interested singers may register their children for an audition time by contacting Paula FitzGerald at (301) 512-1183 or SchubertSingers@gmail.com or. The directors will be listening for the ability to match pitch. Rehearsals for those making successful auditions will begin on January 29 in preparation for Spring concerts in May.

Schubert Singers is comprised of the Preparatory Choir (our beginner singers starting at age 5), Schubert Ensemble (experienced singers), and the Schubert Chorale (older and more advanced singers). Schubert Singers is directed by Angela Garvey, Paula FitzGerald and Tammy Gross. Schubert Singers was founded in 2003 to offer to the children of Southern Maryland the opportunity to learn the art and experience the joy of choral singing. It is an offering of Friendship Landing Center for the Arts (founded by Alicia Cordelle), an initiative for the children of Southern Maryland to have access to the fine arts, which operates under a 501(c)3 status. Tax-deductible checks may be made out to Friendship Landing Center for the Arts, and designated for "Choir."
