Essays will be judged by University System of Maryland officials who will select the winning essays for middle school level (6th, 7th, 8th) and high school level (9th and 10th) on the basis of organization, correct grammar usage, and clear expression of ideas. The officials will select a first-prize winner, a second-prize winner, and a third-prize winner for each level, awarding a total of six prizes. Each first-prize winner will receive a Kindle.
Students placing second and third will receive other great prizes.
To be eligible for consideration, entries must be received by Monday, November 26, 2012. If winners are not present at the December I" event when prizes are announced, the University System of Maryland reserves the right to award the prizes to others.
