Homeschool Day at Mount Vernon
November 2nd, 2012
Mount Vernon invites homeschoolers to experience 18th-century plantation life during this special one-day event! At the Pioneer Farm, families can watch costumed interpreters produce 18th-century goods; learn about George Washington’s innovative farming practices; visit a reconstructed slave cabin; play colonial games; and see animals (like horses, mules, sheep, and oxen). Elsewhere on the Estate, families can tour Washington’s Mansion; visit our state-of-the-art Museum and Education Center; meet people from Washington’s world; and participate in a special wreathlaying ceremony at Washington’s Tomb.
Special rates for homeschool families: $7 for homeschool students (age 6-18); $10 for adults; free for children 5 and under.
We strongly encourage that you purchase tickets in advance for this popular event.
