One of the most powerful aspects of nature is its ability to engage all of our senses.  In 2014, London Town will begin installing a Sound and Sensory Garden that will encourage visitors to explore and experience nature.

The first part of the Sound and Sensory Garden will be ready by July.  The heart of this section will be three outdoor instruments that can be played by anyone (videos below). Surrounding the instruments will be some discovery tables where visitors and families can explore seed pods, flowers, and other natural items from our gardens.  Child-friendly building blocks made from natural materials will help kids appreciate nature. And visitors will also be able to acquire a take-home nature journal that encourages them to continue exploring nature in their daily lives.

The completion of our Sound and Sensory Garden will take between three and four years.  Funding for this first part has come from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County.  To fully realize our vision though, we will need more funding.  If you are interested in helping us create a unique space in our gardens, please contact us.  In-kind services and donations are also appreciated for this project.
