National Gallery of Art Tours

Did you miss out on one of AAHA's fall or winter NGA Art Tours? Well guess what? Here is one last chance this school year to join us! Please RSVP by Wednesday, April 17 if you would like to join AAHA on April 24 on a 10:00 tour.

The topic?   Every Picture Tells a Story. These tours are inquiry-based rather than lecture-based. The tour will consist of 5 to 6 stops where students will be encouraged to look carefully and discuss works of art. The docent will ask open-ended questions to start the discussion and then add information as the students respond to the works of art. Usually there is a hands on component where the children are asked to sketch.

We will meet in the West Wing Rotunda by the fountain.

This tour is designed for 4-6th grade elementary school aged students though interested younger/older siblings are welcome! The NGA expects that as a chaperone you are responsible for the conduct of your child during the tour. As we are trying to create a nurturing art experience for everyone on the tour and respect the museum, if for any reason your child is disruptive on the tour, they may be asked to be excused.

PS. A reminder to mark your calendars: Next AAHA Meeting is May 13th!  Location and subject TBD.
