The National Air and Space Museum celebrates women's history this year with events at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA and at the Museum in Washington, DC. For over a century, women have been contributing to the fields of aviation and space exploration. Join us to learn about and celebrate these many achievements.

For over 100 years, women have contributed to technological advances in aviation and space.  Meet women who are today’s role models and hear about the historic women who have inspired them.
Timed Events Join astronaut Kay Hire (STS-90 and STS-130) as she shares her experiences as an astronaut and a naval officer. 
Moving Beyond Earth (Gallery 113)
11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Come to story time!
Hear You Can’t Do that Amelia, an inspiring story of how Amelia Earhart did lots of things she was told she could not do.
The Barron Hilton Pioneers of Flight Gallery (Gallery 208)
11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Learn about Phoebe Waterman Haas, astronomer, and observe the sky. The Phoebe Waterman Haas Public Observatory 
Noon - 3:00 p.m.
All Day Activities (for ages three and up with adult companion) 
• Design a Mission Patch 
• Make Fifinella doll. 
• Build a Canada Arm out of cups.
• Astronaut and Pilot Dress Up 
• Design a plane 
• Build and Test a Glider
Meet other special guests• Talk to Science Cheerleaders (former NFL or NBA cheerleaders who are involved in science) and participate in Project MERCCURI.
• Learn about Black Boxes from Beverley Drake, Senior Aviation Accident Investigator/Analyst.
• Talk to women from NASA and the FAA.
• Find out about the organization for glider pilots—Women Soar.
• Meet representatives from Sally Ride Science.
• Encounter an aviatrix from the past—Ruth Law—record setter, airmail pilot and the star of “Ruth Law’s Flying Circus.”
