Extracurricular Activities

soccer
Academy of Fine Arts 
Offers music, dance, acting, and musical theatre classes for the entire family. Provides year-round education to hundreds of students on campus in Gaithersburg and off campus for homeschool groups, pre-schools, and daycare centers.

Activity Center at Bohrer Park
Offers open gym programs, arts and recreation classes, and summer camps in Gaithersburg.

Adventure Theatre Musical Theatre Center
Provides theatrical experiences for young audiences and offers musical theater and performing arts training, including classes student productions, ensembles, and community outreach. Serves students at all skill levels and families from diverse communities.

Arts Barn, Gaithersburg 
Arts exhibitions, classes, camps, and theatre.

Basketball for Home Schoolers 
Contact the Frederick Force for information on a competitive home school basketball program for boys & girls. Varsity and Middle School teams are available for the winter season. Spring and fall skills clinics are also available. Summer scrimmage opportunities are offered as well. Contact John Quick at quick23@verizon.net for more information. 

Bethesda Chevy Chase Baseball
Spring and fall baseball provides children aged 6-18 an opportunity to participate in an organized program that encourages teamwork and sportsmanship while developing baseball skills. Games are played at various locations throughout lower Montgomery County. 

Bethesda Little League
Baseball for 9-12 year old county players. 

Bethesda Soccer ClubForty boys and girls’ teams from ages U-8 through U-19 that compete in various leagues in Maryland and Region I. 

BlackRock Center for the Arts
Offers performance and educational opportunities in a variety of arts programs and summer camps, located in Germantown.

Burtonsville Athletic Association
Offers baseball, softball and lacrosse programs for Montgomery County youth in instructional through high school leagues.

Cabin John Ice Arena
The Montgomery County Department of Park and Planning offers an assortment of programs to all ages including lessons, general and special skating sessions, and rental times. Located in Rockville. 

Campus Rec Services at University of Maryland
Non-credit instructional programs in swimming and fitness are open to the public. You do not need to be affiliated with the university to participate. 

Clarksburg Baseball and Softball
Recreational league for boys and girls.

Creative Writing Group
This group is for 7-12 year olds meets Mondays from 1-2PM in Rockville, Maryland. Please contact Kris Vaitkus at 240-899-3671 for more information. No fees. 

Dream Allstars: Cheer and Dance program
Organization predicated on the belief that the greatest value of sports lies within its ability to enhance the character, self esteem and physical well-being of its participants. Located in Gaithersburg and recommended by local homeschooling family.

Firebirds Athletic Club 
A non-profit track and field program for all interested youths in Montgomery County, MD between the ages of 6 and 18. The club is a member of PVA (Potomac Valley Association) USA Track & Field (USATF) Organization.

Gaithersburg Skate Park
This 12,300 square foot Skate Park is designed for in-line skaters, BMX bikes and skateboarders.

Germantown Indoor Swim Center
A competition pool, a recreation pool, and a leisure pool, as well as two separate hydrotherapy pools. 

Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital
For girls ages 5-17, with four associations covering Montgomery County.

Homeschooling Cub Scout Pack 
Serving Montgomery County! (Gaithersburg/Germantown area) 3 Mondays per month, from 1:30-3pm. Meetings will be held in the Gaithersburg/ Germantown area, and locations will vary depending on our activities and the weather.

King's Cathedral Youth Band Program
Beginning band classes, as well as two groups for more advanced musicians: a Concert Band and a Wind Ensemble. The directors are professional musicians with music education degrees.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Swim Center
Eight-lane pool, diving, and teaching pool in Silver Spring.

Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras
Originally the Montgomery County Youth Orchestra, this is the oldest and most established youth orchestra program in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Also offers preparatory ensembles and is located at Strathmore in North Bethesda. 

Maryland Suburban Swim Club
Instructional and competitive swimming at all levels, located in the Fairland Aquatics Center in Laurel. 

Maryland Youth Ballet
Provides training and performance opportunities to prepare young dancers for a career in the performing arts as well as classes for dancers of all ages and levels in the community. Located in Silver Spring. 

Metropolitan Ballet and Theatre Company
MBT offers professional instruction in a nurturing environment to all who are interested, regardless of physical limitations or future aspirations. Located in Rockville. 

Miniature Golf at Bohrer ParkLandscaped course in Gaithersburg for family or co-op fun.

Kids College, Summer and non-summer enrichment programs.

Montgomery County 4-H 
Any Montgomery County resident between the ages of 5 and 18 is welcome to participate locally. The United States Department of Agriculture, the University of Maryland and our Montgomery County Office of Economic Development jointly sponsor program. All programs are operated by University of Maryland Extension (UME) trained and certified volunteers.

Montgomery County Aquatics Center
Eight lane swimming, water slide, leisure pool and racquetball in Bethesda. 

Montgomery County Public Libraries20+ branches to serve to the community with books, music, e-books, research assistance, story time, activities for children and more.

Montgomery County Recreation DepartmentRecreation, classes and sports programs for county youth. 

Montgomery County Road Runners Club
Youth programs to promote exercise and physical fitness through running. These programs focus on fun and fitness, not competition.

Montgomery Dive Club
Professional instruction in competitive springboard and platform diving for participants of nearly all ages and abilities. Classes are held at four locations throughout Montgomery County - Germantown, Rockville, Silver Spring and Olney. Emphasis is on sound fundamental skills in a positive and encouraging atmosphere.

Montgomery Soccer, Inc.
Non-profit youth soccer organization that promotes youth soccer in Montgomery County. It is an open program where players of all abilities are invited to play and enjoy the game. Teams are coached exclusively by volunteers. 

Montgomery Soccer – Top Soccer Program
Designed for youth between 5-21 with developmental disabilities, severe learning disabilities, autism, Downs Syndrome, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, impaired vision and hearing. 

Montgomery Village Sports Association
Offers youth baseball, softball, football, lacrosse, cheerleading, and wrestling

Motion Media Dance Theatre
Non-profit dance company offering pre-professional and dance company programs for ages 7-18 with a mix of ballet, jazz, hip-hop and high energy dance. 

Olney Manor Skate ParkSeasonal passes or daily entrance, located next to the Olney Swim Center.

Olney Swim Center
Eight-lane pool, diving areas, leisure pool, lessons and swim teams. 

Olney Track Club 
Track and field club for ages 6-14. Contact 301-924-2188 for more information.

Play Sports Plus
Non-profit organization that offers year-round, uniquely structured, co-ed sports and swimming programs for verbal children able to follow multi-step directions between the ages of 5 and 14 with mild to moderate autistic spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD and other developmental disabilities. 

Potomac Athletic Club
Non-contact tag rugby for girls and boys ages 5-15 located in Silver Spring.

Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra
Orchestra and ensembles for Montgomery County youth located at the Rockville Civic Center. 

Rockville Baseball Association
Youth baseball for boys and girls. 

Rockville – Montgomery Swim Club
One of the largest and most successful swimming teams in the United States. Over 60 coaches work with 1300+ swimmers at 5 practice sites. The team is operated as a joint program between the City of Rockville Department of Recreation and Parks and the Montgomery County Recreation Department.

Rockville Swim and Fitness Center
The Rockville Swim and Fitness Center is a full-service fitness and recreation facility. Conveniently located near Rockville’s Town Center, the facility features two indoor and three outdoor pools along with a fitness and exercise room.

Soccer Association of Montgomery County
SAM provides developmental and educational soccer programs for Montgomery County youth. Programs include Pre-Kicks (ages 3-4), Kickers (ages 5-6), and a recreational league (U7-High School).

Strathmore
Arts center in North Bethesda presents art exhibitions, concerts and performing arts programs, and literary lectures and events.

Takoma Park - Silver Spring Youth Baseball and Softball
Community based program for youth ages 7-13.

Thursday Upcounty Bowling League
Bowls at Bowl America in Gaithersburg. We welcome bumper bowlers as well as youth bowlers and children of all abilities of homeschool age 5-18. Contact Kathy Worth at 301-977-4253.

Water Park at Bohrer Park
Recreational swimming and 250 foot double waterslide in Gaithersburg.

Wheaton Ice Arena
This year-round NHL size rink offers sessions for all skating abilities and interests. Programs are offered for recreational, freestyle, hockey, and speed skaters by the Montgomery County Department of Park and Planning.

YMCA of Metropolitan Washington
Branches in Silver Spring and Bethesda offer recreational and swim classes for youth.
