AAHA Meeting Feb. 11, 7-8:30 pm
Please
join the Accokeek Area Home School Association (AAHA) at the Accokeek Library
from 7-8:30 as we will enjoy a presentation on Volunteerism and Home Schooling.
Our guest presenter, Jennifer Harris has worked for the office of
women’s affairs in Maryland and Virginia. She was the
communications manager for the city of Alexandria, VA where she was responsible
for making community announcements, working with the Alexandria city
mayor and other officials to coordinate community programs, safety concerns,
and other city news. Jennifer volunteers with various local and state
organizations. She will present on ways families can volunteer in their
communities, ways children can foster an awareness of community concerns at an
early age, and ways home schoolers can earn community service hours for middle
and high school. Bring a friend!
I know Monica and I are both looking forward to serving at a
"Warm Nights" this Thursday engaging our own children. Bring
your service or volunteerism stories to share!
Thank you for all that provided feedback on "our"
AAHA. It is so great to hear from you! Also, it is good to hear how it is a
much needed resource in our Home Schooling community. Keep the comments and
suggestions coming!
As always, Anne-Marie Ramsey will have resources focusing on
service and volunteerism readily available for you to peruse and check out.
Thank you Anne!
Best,
Katharine and Monica
Founders
PS. And, yes, I
will bring chocolate cake! Bring a mug for tea or coffee.
Children are always invited to play quietly or
join in with the unofficial "AAHA Home School Game Club." Bring
a board or card game to share!
