For Ages 5-12
Who were William and Henry Walters? How did their collection begin? What was life like in Baltimore during the 1800s? Join us for an exciting day of learning at the Walters Art Museum and the Maryland Historical Society.  In this joint workshop, students will spend the morning exploring the MD Historical Society while participating in hands-on workshops to learn about 19th century life in Baltimore. In the afternoon, students will discover the rich history of the Walters family and the collection that developed into the museum we know today.
From 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. explore what life was like in Baltimore during the 1800s at the Maryland Historical Society. During the workshop older students will work with Historical Society staff using primary sources from the collection to answer several questions about 19th century Baltimore, while younger students will participate in a hands-on exploration using historic artifacts.  From 1:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. discover the Walters story through this workshop designed exclusively for homeschool students ages 10-12. Participants enjoy an introduction to the museum, a guided tour, studio activity, and post-visit materials.
